Moving upwards in our journey of the chakras and the role they play within Reiki, after the root chakra is the second chakra. It is also known as the sacral chakra.
The Second Chakra within the physical body is the sacral chakra. The Sanskrit is Swadhisthana, which means “the sweet place” or “one’s own abode.” Our home and happiness.
The color is orange. This color inspires the lightness of joy and happiness, which is the emotion we all aspire to. I mean, who doesn’t want to be happy?
Element is water. Emotions are at home in this chakra. Our emotions have the fluidity of constantly changing from moment to moment. Emotions = “energy-in-motion”.
The energetic location is a few inches below the navel.
The body parts are the hips, lower back, sexual organs and taste receptors in the tongue. Think of how food brings us so much pleasure. And how we “eat our emotions” when we are feeling all the feelings (or want to block them!). Or drink too much alcohol (fluidity again) – we’re usually not happy but we want to be! The power of the sacral chakra is by the location of the sexual organs and the power to create life.
The sacral chakra is the creative center of the body and where you connect with the other. Qualities associated with it include desire, fluidity, pleasure, what brings you joy, emotions, feelings, sexuality, connection with another such as a romantic partner or friend.
