Chicago Reiki and Crystals: Selenite
Satin Spar Selenite is one of my favorite crystals. I find it to be very soft and gentle energetically, like the light touch of an angelic wing.
It is partially opaque with the slightest bit of translucent-ness to it, which is why it is often found in lamps. It forms in a linear pattern and is a physically softer crystal with a Mohs hardness number of 2 (a diamond is 10!), so be gentle with it! It is most often white, but there are some light orange specimens.
Satin spar selenite is similar to black tourmaline, in that it is fragile, forms in a linear pattern and great for cleansing, but I find that selenite is far gentler. I’ll use black tourmaline when I’m actively trying to purge something, while selenite is more for soft and gentle cleansing and clearing. I often use selenite after using black tourmaline to round off the extreme cleansing with a softness.
Selenite is a high vibration stone and it is used to cleanse other crystals and very rarely needs to be cleansed itself. I have a few selenite plates and slabs that I place my other crystals on to cleanse them of energies that were picked up. Angels and other high vibration bengs love selenite, so placing selenite wands in the corner of your room or home is a great way to invite them in and raise the vibration of your space.
If you would like to experience the loving lightness of selenite, I offer personalized Reiki and crystal balancing sessions.
